Ring Ouzels

Just back from a trip to Scotland, where I stayed at the wonderful Grant Arms hotel in the Cairngorm National Park. The weather left a lot to be desired most days, with high winds, cold temperatures and prolonged heavy showers.

However, between showers I got out and about and got images of a few species which I would find hard to find hear in Worcestershire.

Ring Ouzels are a Summer visitor to the UK and make a beeline for the high hills and mountains of Scotland and Wales. They are basically a mountain version of our Blackbird, male black, female brown, but both have a white crescent around the throat, more obviously so in the male bird pictured below.

The images I took below, are of one of the males I found around the car park of Cairngorm ski centre. The second image also illustrates the weather I was photographing in, although both images were taken using my car as a hide, me not that daft!!
