The birds that feed in my garden often make there way in via a large fir tree two gardens away, quite possibly a Christmas tree bought potted with roots many years ago and planted.
Now at around 40ft, it’s a great place for the Goldfinch’s and Greenfinch’s to check for any danger before they descend on the feeders in their masses.
They seem to have taken well to my adapted feeders. Standard trays for feeders attach directly to the bottom of the feeder making the bottom ports almost redundant. By adding my self designed extensions, all ports are available, plus an extra feeding area for the birds is available, massively reducing the amount of ground spillage and wastage.
I find I’m topping up the feeders every other day now rather than daily as before, so quids in, more birds and less mess 😉
