Siskin’s on the move

A sure sign to me that it’s cold outside, is when we get new visitors to the garden.

This gorgeous little male siskin just dropped in for a feed literally moments after I topped up my feeders.

  1. Please tell us where this was taken as we believe we also had a siskin on our feeder earlier this week in Hampshire m

    • Hi Mike, I live near Solihull in the West Midlands. I’ve also had another lady comment and post a picture from Harrogate as well, seems they are dropping in all over. They are in the UK all year round, but generally only visit garden feeders when it’s gets on the chilly side. Years ago it was said they used to be attracted in by the red plastic net peanut feeders you can buy, but pretty sure thats a myth.
They are quite small, so you’d notice a good size difference between these and a greenfinch for example.
